United Way’s Day of Caring is a highly-anticipated annual event throughout our adult day health centers. In the preceding weeks, decorations pop up and clients discuss what possible talents will be presented by volunteers.
On September 12, we welcomed community partners to celebrate with us. Our adult day health centers in South and North Seattle hosted casino events, complete with jumbo dice, dealer’s visors, and sequins. At our Kent location, we hosted a circus day and our volunteers pleasantly surprised us by showing up in clown costumes and face paint! This year we offered a new opportunity for community volunteers to see the new Therapy*Integration*Mobility*Education (TIME) program in South Seattle. We celebrated Dr. Seuss with volunteers, dressed in their favorite silly stripes, reading aloud Dr. Seuss favorites and playing games.
Most importantly, the Day of Caring event promoted service and provided community members an opportunity to visit and experience the fun of our day health programs for themselves. Thank you to the volunteers from Microsoft, AT&T, and Unigard Insurance Group.
